Uma Pedra no Sapato (a stone in the shoe) is an expanding independent production company based in Lisbon, Portugal, founded by filmmaker Filipa Reis in 2008. The company invests in building open and strong relationships with visionary directors, focusing on custom-made and creative production processes.

The company is also developing a strong slate of international co-productions.

Uma Pedra no Sapato’s films have premiered in Cannes, Berlin (Golden Bear Berlinale Shorts 2016), Venice, Rotterdam (Ammodo Tiger Award 2023), Locarno and San Sebastian, among other important festivals, and are released internationally.

Current projects in production include new features by award winning Portuguese directors Miguel Gomes, Margarida Cardoso, Pedro Pinho, Filipa Reis and João Miller Guerra, Paulo Abreu and José Filipe Costa, and newcomers Leonor Teles, Maureen Fazendeiro, Sofia Bost, Takashi Sugimoto and Duarte Coimbra.

The company also produces episodic content and nonfiction programs for television through its brand Vende-se Filmes.
